Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai hit out at Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav for his remark about "boycotting Bihar elections with allies."
Amid the row over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission (EC), Bihar Assembly's Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday warned of boycotting the upcoming Bihar elections if it is not rolled back.
As the Opposition continued to train guns on the Centre over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list in Bihar, Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Sandosh Kumar said that the exercise "intentionally" attempts to exclude Dalits, Adivasis, and Minorities from the voting list.
Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date.
Speaking to ANI, Mohamed said, "...There is no transparency in the Election Commission of India, and we are asking for time from the Election Commission of India regarding some anomalies, but they are not giving us time. This means something is wrong..."
Speaking to ANI, Kishor said the state government had failed to address the plight of more than 50 lakh children in Bihar who are working as labourers, and warned that if necessary, his party would take to the streets to wake up the government.
Congress MP Jebi Mather raised serious concerns over the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, alleging that the exercise threatens the foundation of Indian democracy.
Yadav said, "The Lok Sabha elections were contested recently, and whatever more or less votes are there... There is a different way. But you are making a new voter list. This means BJP has prepared something big to commit dishonesty on a large scale"
"If SIR is not stopped, then the Bihar elections have no meaning. I can tell you the result now that if SIR is not stopped, then the BJP will win the Bihar elections," Singh told ANI.
Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Saturday emphasised that there is no "baahubali" in his party and mentioned that children of "common" people will contest elections from the Jan Suraaj party.
