As the BJP is on the verge of forming a consecutive third-term government in Haryana, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the assembly results are "surprising" for them.
"As per the input I have with me, we are touching the majority. Congress is getting the majority. There are several seats that we have won...but the same is yet to be updated..." Hooda told reporters here as the Election Commission continued posting results from the counting of votes that
"No doubt, Congress is going to form the government with a huge margin. The party will decide (CM face). Congress will bring its own majority. The credit goes to all the party leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and most importantly to the people of Haryana,"
This comes after the exit polls predicted a clean sweep for Congress party in Haryana, with some polls predicting the party winning more than 50 of the 90 seats in the assembly.
