The United States Department of State strongly rejected the allegations of the government's involvement in former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation, terming them 'laughable' and 'absolutely false' claims.
Kugelman emphasized that the Awami League, Hasina's party, is currently sidelined, with no representation in the interim government. However, he noted that if unrest persists, the Awami League might regain favour in future elections.
"One of the things that we have made clear is that we want to see the interim government chart a democratic future for the people of Bangladesh," US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a press briefing.
