Uttar Pradesh police on Monday arrested three people in connection with Atiq Ahmed's killing, but the search for two others is still underway, said police sources.
"We know that Atiq Ahmed was not a good person but the manner in which he was murdered in Police custody makes it look like there is a 'jungle raj' in UP," said Mehbooba Mufti while interacting with media.
A letter petition has been moved in the Supreme Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Police.
While talking to ANI, Tejashwi Yadav said, "I have no sympathies for criminals. There are laws and Constitution to eliminate crime. Even the assassins of a PM were made to undergo trial and they were punished."
"All three shooters, Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lovelesh Tiwari, are under threat of attack behind bars, owing to which they have been shifted to a high-security cell," official sources said.
