Hyderabad Airport Customs on Wednesday seized over 2 Kg of gold valued at over Rs 1 crore in three separate cases and over 1 lakh cigarette sticks at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, officials said.
Mumbai Airport Customs on Saturday seized narcotics worth Rs 12.98 crore weighing about 1.3 kilograms from a foreign national, said the officials on Monday.
Customs officials at Delhi airport seized over five-kilogram gold, collectively valued at about Rs 2.56 crore, from five passengers who smuggled the precious metal into the country.
"Delhi Customs held one Kenyan passenger who arrived at IGI Airport, Delhi from Addis Ababa with three whisky bottles collectively weighing 4.145 Kg, and recovered a total of 2537 grams of cocaine (approximately), having an international value of Rs 38.05 Crore," an official statement said.
"The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), Kochi, seized 2207.24 gms of foreign-origin gold jewelry worth Rs 1,21,83,965 from 4 passengers who had arrived from Malaysia at Kochi Airport," the official statement said.
"On the basis of specific intelligence, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials intercepted one female passenger, an Indian national arriving from Malawi to Hyderabad via Doha on May 7, 2023," the Customs Department said in a statement.
Mumbai Airport Customs booked 55 cases of smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes and seized around 9,36,700 cigarettes in the month of April, informed officials on Thursday.
