The Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations on Monday in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that around 774 Afghan refugees arrived in Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.
An Iranian border commander said 4,767 "illegal" Afghan immigrants have reportedly been sent back to Afghanistan through the Milak border crossing in Sistan and Baluchistan in the past 24 hours.
Afghan migrants who were deported by Turkey have voiced grievances about mistreatment at the hands of Turkish border forces, alleging that they were subjected to physical abuse and torture following their arrest, TOLOnews reported.
Over 74,000 Afghan migrants have returned to the country from Iran through the Silk Road crossing point in the past month, said Taliban's provincial officials at the Refugees and Repatriation Department of Western Nimroz province, according to Khaama Press.
Khaama Press reported citing Turkish media outlets that a total of 230 Afghan migrants have been deported from Turkey's various cities back to the country due to insufficient documents.
According to reports by the head of Spin Boldak refugee department, some 24 families, including 55 people have been released from Karachi prisons, which includes 24 children.
Turkey deported at least 9,000 refugees from Afghanistan back to the war-torn country since the beginning of 2023, Khaama Press quoted Human Rights Watch in Turkey as saying.
