Special prayers were offered at Baba Mahakal Temple Ujjain for the safe rescue of 41 workers trapped in Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel by devotees and priests.
Rakesh was brought to the Emergency Department, Trauma Centre of All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He received immediate medical attention, despite the best efforts and treatment provided; he was declared brain dead on November 15.
On the occasion, priest of the temple Sanjay Sharma told ANI, "According to tradition the doors of Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva) were opened in the Brahma Muhurta and after that a holy bath of Lord Mahakal was performed with Panchamrit Maha Baba, anointed with fruits and Kesar (saffron)."
"This puja is very special for us. When the world and our families rejected us, religion took us in...We try to follow all the rituals. We have been offering prayers here for 15 years now," Meera Parida said.
Devotees gathered in large numbers at the temple to take part in the 'aarti' and honour Goddess Durga. As the priests recited the prayers, the temple echoed with the melody.
