Vice President of BJP Mumbai Pradesh and Senior Advocate Hitesh Jain took to X on Monday to praise the appointment of Justice Sanjiv Khanna as the 51st Chief Justice of India (CJI), calling it "a proud and poetic moment of justice."
Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Monday was sworn in as the 51st Chief Justice of India (CJI) by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in a brief ceremony. Khanna has been part of benches in the Supreme Court that heard important judgments including upholding the abrogation of Article 37
Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the son of former Delhi High Court judge Justice Dev Raj Khanna and the nephew of former Supreme Court judge HR Khanna, will take oath as the 51st Chief Justice of India on Monday at 10 am at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The outgoing CJI, Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud, retired on Sunday, making way for Justice Khanna, who will serve a six-month tenure as the Chief Justice.
Upon approval by the government, Justice Khanna will become the 51st Chief Justice of India. He is set to serve a tenure of six months, concluding on May 13, 2025, before his retirement.
