Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 24 (ANI): The tenth day of Nepal's fortnightly Dashain festival is being observed by receiving "Tika" (Vermillion Powder) and blessings from the elders. The worship of Sri Durga Bhawani at Dasainghars over nine days concludes formally on the day of Vijaya Dashami after the Abhishekh or sprinkling of holy water takes place marking the beginning of Tika. People receive Tika and jamara till the full moon day, which falls on October 28 this year. The auspicious gifts of the goddess Durga, tika and jamara are regarded as prosperity. The shoots sprouted from the seedling known as Jamara are taken out on the 10th day and are worn along with ‘Tika’ which is observed as Vijaya Dashami. The Vijaya Dashami festival is celebrated in commemoration of the victory of good over evil and the victory of divine forces over demonic forces.
