USA condemns Tanzania govt for crackdown on LGBT

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): The United States of America (USA) strongly condemned the crackdown on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community by Tanzania government. According to an official statement, the US government was deeply concerned over escalating attacks and legislative actions by government of Tanzania. The statement further said that Tanzanian government violated civil liberties and human rights. It also said that continued arrests and harassment of marginalized persons including lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender among others who seek to exercise their rights to freedom of speech, association and assembly have troubled US. The Governor of Dar es Salaam vowed to arrest all Tanzanian citizens belonging to the LGBT community.
