Washington, DC (USA), July 17 (ANI): As the investigation intensifies over the assassination attempt of former US President Donald Trump, the latest findings have raised eyebrows. Weeks before multiple gunshots were fired on former US President Donald Trump, US received intel regarding the Iranian Plot to kill him. According to national security officials, US received intelligence from a human source about an Iranian plot to kill Donald Trump. However, officials said there’s no indication that there is a connection b/w the Iranian plot and 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who attempted to kill Trump. Meanwhile, the US Secret Service was notified of the Iranian threat, and security was boosted as a result, confirmed by US national security official. Trump and his former secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, have faced threats from Tehran since the 2020 drone strike that killed Qassim Soleimani in Iraq. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the US Secret Service, said that it and other agencies were "constantly receiving new potential threat information”. Former US President Donald Trump survived an assassination bid at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. The assassination plot for Donald Trump has raised questions over the security lapses from the US Secret Service. However, Donald Trump’s shooter was neutralised on the spot in the public rally by the FBI agents.
