London (UK), Oct 09 (ANI): As the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants continues to escalate, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed solidarity with Israel. PM Sunak said that he will chair a meeting of the government’s COBRA emergency response committee to discuss Israel. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for a swift end to fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian Hamas militants. “Not only must the fighting stop as a matter of urgency and a solution be found to the problem faced by the civilian population, who are in great numbers becoming victims of the current situation, but attention must also be paid to the reasons why a solution has not been found to the Palestinian problem for decades. There are direct, clear, unequivocal decisions by the U.N. Security Council, agreements between Israel and the Palestinians, including the Oslo and Madrid agreements and, of course, the Arab peace initiative,” said Sergei Lavrov.
