Torrential rainfall claims 11 lives across Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 03 (ANI): As many as 11 people have lost their lives as the heavy downpour lead to massive floods in Kathmandu on Monday. The monsoon havoc which started on Sunday has affected districts spanning from the eastern, central to the western regions. According to the data, a total of thousand houses were inundated across the plains. Likewise, total of eight districts have been affected due to the incessant rainfall. Three people each died in Rolpa and Banke districts on Monday. The rainfalls have also flooded most of the Province No. 2, with Birgunj and Janakpur cities among the most affected. The extreme rainfall, starting from Nepal, witnessed in the last few days was caused by the formation of a low pressure zone over the hills. The flood has also displaced hundreds of villagers residing near rivers and other water sources in the low lying plains of Nepal.
