New Delhi, Apr 26 (ANI): On the 33rd Birth Anniversary of the 11th Panchen Lama on 25th April, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress held a protest in front of the Chinese consulate in New York. Around 30-40 Tibetans participated at the protest. They shouted anti-China slogans to demand release of Panchen Lama. The 11th Panchen Lama has allegedly been in Chinese custody for over 27 years. He was born in Lhari, Nagchu, Tibet on April 25, 1989. On May 14, 1995, the Dalai Lama proclaimed six-year-old Gedhun Choekyi Nyim as the 11th reincarnation of the late Panchen Lama. Panchen Lamas are considered one of the most revered religious leaders in Tibet.
