Lima (Peru), Sep 01 (ANI): Police in Peru faced off with protesting teachers, demanding a pay rise, in a worsening crisis that has seen many classrooms close in Peru's Lima. According to local media, the police tried to stop protesters marching on downtown Lima by using tear gas. A number of arrests were made. The teachers in the march accused authorities of using heavy-handed tactics to quell opposition.
