Senators sound off on U.S. government shutdown

Washington, D.C. (United States), Jan 21 (ANI): The United States government, shut down on Saturday after President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress failed to reach a deal on funding for federal agencies, highlighting the country's deep political divisions. For the first time since October 2013 - when a similar standoff that lasted 16 days kept only essential agency operations intact - federal workers were being told to stay at home or in some cases to work without pay until new funding is approved. Senators Corey Gardner, Richard Blumenthal and Chuck Grassley sound off on the government shutdown. ‘These governments don’t need the shutdown, we have time to make a solution happen. There is an opportunity for us to really do what right for children, to fund the government to help make sure man in uniform have the resources they need to continue the fight on terrorists, lets find the solution’, said Republican Colorado Senator Corey Gardner.
