Russian Recipe that turns apples into Marshmallows

Kolomna (Russia), Feb 12, 2022, (ANI): These apples are here kept in a famous museum factory in real Chuprikov’s house to prepare a marshmallow. The first factory for the production of the famous Kolomna Pastila i.e., Marshmallow was opened in 1852. In 2011, a historical museum factory was opened in real Chuprikov’s house. Today, Pastila in Kolomna is made by the old recipes. To prepare the marshmallow, apples are first washed in the “Johann Reiss Washing Drum”. The core from the washed apples needs to be removed so that there are no apple seeds in the finished marshmallow. The apples are then put in cast iron pots and baked, and then mashed into a puree. Chilled puree is whipped with sugar & egg whites. It turns into pastila dough. Whipped pastila dough is put into a special wooden frame. After drying, it is served to the table. Pastila is one of the main sweet treats on the Russian table. The french, having tasted this pastila themselves at paris 1867 exhibition ,called it "russian fruit bread" and compared the pastila to a sponge cake. In current time, Pastila keeps the original 19th century recipe. Modern production, which is located here, in the museum, has not changed much since then. Industrial apple orchards in kolomna appeared in the days of ivan the terrible. Pastila made without added sugar is suitable even as the first solid food for a baby.
