Moscow (Russia), July 23 (ANI/ TV BRICS): Russia’s Volgograd region has emerged as one of this year's key centers for international scientific thought. Local initiatives intersecting energy, ecology, and economics have led to the region being selected as the venue for the announcement ceremony of the Global Energy Prize. The region is eager to share its expertise, particularly in renewable energy matters. Europe's largest hydroelectric plant, the Volga Hydroelectric Station, is situated here. Members of the international awards committee took particular note of the station. World experts in the energy industry were introduced not only to the unique history of this significant project from the last century, but also to the modernization efforts undertaken in recent years. Hydro turbines have already been replaced, with generators next in line. The primary goal is to increase the reliability and extend the service life of the equipment. The impact of industry on the environment, waste management, and energy tariffs were topics of discussion at local universities. At the Volzhsky campus of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, significant attention was given to the safety of energy facilities. A blockchain network developed at the university was also launched. At Volgograd State University, a meeting with students specializing in related degrees took place. Here, the international committee chose the laureates of the award after hours of deliberation. The awards will be presented to the winners this autumn in Moscow.
