Russia: Memorial service held to mark 80th anniversary of start of Patriotic War

Moscow (Russia), June 26 (ANI): Marking the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the great patriotic war, a memorial service for deceased warriors was held in the main temple of the Russian armed forces. People present in the temple also joined the “candle of memory” movement to remember the soldiers. They also honored those that fell fighting fascism by lighting their candles with fire taken from the tomb of solider. On 22 June 1941, violating the Non-Aggression Pact, Germany began the war against the USSR. The Historical Military Events Reconstruction recreated the incident in the western borders of the Soviet Union, which was performed on Remembrance Day in Kubinka near Moscow. The battle on the July 22 was taken on by the city of Brest and the fortress is located within its boundaries.
