Rohingya crisis: Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi to skip U.N. assembly

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi is likely to skip next week's U.N. General Assembly amid the mounting international pressure over Rohingya issue. The news was confirmed by her office on Wednesday mentioning that she is trying to control the violent and unstable situation in her country and will have to miss the upcoming meeting in New York. Last year, Suu Kyi had defended her government's efforts to resolve the crisis of Rohingya Muslim at the U.N. The issue has gone from bad to worse over the past one year with agitation at its peak in recent times. The Myanmar's leader is being criticised for her inability to solve the crisis where some even suggested that she should be stripped of her Nobel peace prize. Thousand of Rohingya Muslims fled to Bangladesh where hundreds have been killed so far. The attack on Rohingya insurgents lead to counter-strike from army but refugees claim the army is trying to push the refugees out of the country.
