With elections in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan expected in 2026, the political narrative in the region is undergoing a major shift. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Senge Sering, President of the Institute for Gilgit Baltistan Studies (Washington DC), says demands for provincial status within Pakistan are giving way to rising concerns over land occupation, resource exploitation, and cultural erosion. He alleges Pakistan and China are controlling land and resources under the guise of development and CPEC, leaving locals without constitutional rights or representation.
