Protest outside Maafushi prison as government refuses court orders to free political prisoners

Maafushi (Maldives), Feb 03 (ANI): A protest broke out outside the maximum security prison in Maldives’ Maafushi, where political prisoners are held. A huge crowd gathered outside the prison and opened gate of the prison where 12 MPs are detained. Protests are being held in Male as President Abdulla Yameen refused to follow SC's ruling to release key political prisoners and reinstate 12 MPs. MDP Secretariat posted a protest video on Twitter and captioned it as: “Protests outside Maximum security prison in Maafushi, where political prisoners are held.”
