Gilgit-Baltistan (PoK), Jan 28 (ANI): A number of Gilgit-Baltistan residents staged a protest against murder of students by Pakistan. Carrying placards, the protestors gathered on roads and demanded justice for the deceased students. Students and several civil society organisations participated in the massive protest, demanding security for people living in various cities of the province. Earlier, Dilawar Abbas, a first-year student and resident of Gilgit was brutally beaten by a group of men in Pakistan’s Lahore. The protests were organised in Skardu and Ghanche districts. There is an unprecedented sense of anger mounting against the authorities of Pakistan, who have always treated people of Gilgit-Baltistan as second class citizens. Islamabad through its repressive policies against the region, never allowed people of the region to grow academically. When aspirants like Dilawar who go out to attain higher education in other cities, they are often meted out with discriminatory attitudes.
