Presidents of India-Turkmenistan highlight significance of Ashgabat agreement on International Transport, Transit Corridor: MEA

Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), April 03 (ANI): MEA Secretary (West) Sanjay Verma on April 03 said that the Presidents of India and Turkmenistan highlighted the significance of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the Ashgabat Agreement on International Transport and Transit Corridor. While addressing a Press Conference on President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Turkmenistan, he said, “The Presidents of India and Turkmenistan had talks on bilateral and international concerns. They looked at issues under the newly established India-Central Asia framework. They also discussed connectivity for commercial purposes.” “Significance of North-South Corridor, Ashgabat agreement and Chabahar Port in Iran to increase trade between India and Turkmenistan was also taken up. Afghanistan was also discussed along with combating terrorism, drug trafficking, and women's safety,” said MEA Secretary (West). “4 MoUs in the field of culture, disaster management, youth matters, and financial intelligence were signed. President Kovind also invited the President of Turkmenistan to visit India,” added Sanjay Verma.
