Political parties in Nepal file nominations for 2nd phase polls

Kathmandu (Nepal), Nov 3 (ANI): The candidates of political parties in Nepal filed their nominations for the second phase of provincial and parliamentary elections under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) election system on Thursday. The candidates, flanked by party cadres carrying banners, filed their nominations at offices of the election controller in 45 districts of the country. These 45 districts have 128 parliamentary and 256 provincial constituencies, with an eligible population of 12.19 millions. The alliance of the opposition Communist party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and Maoist Centre came as a shocker to the Nepal’s politics. As per the new constitution of Nepal local, provincial and parliamentary elections need to be completed by January 21 next year.
