People in Nepal’s Janakpur celebrate Chhath Puja

Janakpur (Nepal), Nov 13 (ANI): Nepal’s Janakpur celebrated auspicious Chhath Puja on Tuesday with fervour and gaiety. On the occasion, women in Janakpur donning thick vermillion layer on their head prayed to Sun God. Thousands of devotees gathered at the ghats and gave their offerings to Sun on the third of the four-day festival. Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival celebrated more specifically in states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. It is a festival in which the Sun is worshipped. During these days, people express gratitude towards Sun God.
