Kathmandu (Nepal), Mar 01 (ANI): The people in Nepal got drenched in colours as they celebrated the festival of Holi. The festival begins with the Nepali culture of installing Chir, a traditional bamboo pole decorated with strips of colorful cloths, in Basantpur a week before the festival arrives. Burning of Chir marks the conclusion of Holi festival in Nepal. On this auspicious day, people offer traditional prayers, play with colours and water, sing, dance and play music. They distribute sweets to near and dear ones. Holi marks the beginning of spring season and arrives at a time when the agricultural fields are on pace for a better harvest.
