Pashupatinath Temple reopens after Nepal govt eases Covid-19 restrictions

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 11 (ANI): The iconic Pashupatinath temple, which was shut in the wake of the second Covid wave in April-May, has been reopened for devotees. The government has lifted a number of restrictions in the country following a dip in the number of everyday infections coupled with a boost in vaccination drive. A number of devotees thronged the temple as soon as the gates opened. As per the officials from the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), the temple will remain open till 1 pm as the risk of the virus is still prevalent. Devotees have been advised to strictly follow the Covid protocols including maintaining social distance and wearing masks. While only 25 devotees are allowed to enter in one go, arrangements of separate entry and exit gate have also been made by the authorities. Along with Pashupatinath, temples including Guhyeshwari and Chandra Vinayak near Pashupatinath have also been opened for devotees from Friday.
