Markets, restaurants and wedding halls in Pakistan have been asked to shut their shops early.This is the latest austerity measure taken by the government to cut down on energy costs and decrease dependence on imported oil. Government departments have also been asked to reduce their electricity consumption by 30 percent and to work from home. Such severe measures are aimed to save the cash-strapped country about $273 million USD.
