Islamabad (Pakistan) October 06 (ANI): Anti-government sentiments prevail in Pakistan as PTI supporters continue to protest for the release of former PM Iran Khan. Supporters of jailed Imran Khan gathered for an anti-government rally in defiance of a ban on the congregation in Islamabad. Over 80 police personnel have been injured in clashes with supporters of Imran Khan in Islamabad. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told journalists that the convoy fired on the police and continuously used teargas. He said while the convoy was heavily armed, the police had been instructed not to carry weapons to prevent the situation from escalating. Authorities have sealed off Islamabad and blocked cellphone services to prevent the gathering. Islamabad is on high alert ahead of a series of top-level diplomatic events scheduled over the next two weeks. Notably, it was the latest in a series of protest rallies since last month to press for Khan's release and agitate against the ruling coalition.
