Birgunj (Nepal), Nov 07 (ANI): Nepal has recorded a remarkably high turnout of new voter registrations, with over 130,000 people added to the electoral roll in just the last 42 days. Across the southern plains of the Himalayan nation, the ongoing voter registration campaign has drawn thousands of eager citizens, who have been lining up at District Election Commission offices to get their names listed on the updated electoral roll. The two-day Gen Z uprising on September 8 and 9 led to the downfall of the KP Sharma Oli government, with at least 72 people losing their lives as authorities attempted to quell the protests. Following three days of discussions, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was appointed as the nation’s interim Prime Minister. She recommended dissolving Parliament, prompting President Ramchandra Paudel to dissolve the House on September 12 and call elections for March 5, 2026. The Election Commission has added 136,060 new voters to the electoral roll 81,864 men, 54,178 women and 18 others.
