Gilgit (PoK), Mar 15 (ANI): Opposition parties in Gilgit-Baltistan region called for early dissolution of the legislative assembly in view of prolonged absence of the ruling party members from the house. Despite completing three years in power, PML (N) government in Gilgit-Baltistan has convened only 24 sessions in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. Of the number of bills tabled during sessions, only 18 have been approved over the last 33 months of the government’s rule. People often blame government ministers of embezzling the budget money for entertainment and other frugal activities. Opposition and the common people of the region have invariably accused Islamabad of systematic ploys designed to divert the attention from the prominent issues such as the construction of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has faced intense resistance from the locals as they believe it is pushing them into poverty while making a few in Islamabad and Beijing rich. However, persistent demands of the rebellious legislators this time around have pushed Islamabad on a back foot, forcing it to take note of the situation.
