NFL players unite to defy U.S. President over anthem protests

London (United Kingdom), Sep 25 (ANI): Members of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens NFL teams on Sunday defied United States President Donald Trump by kneeling during the national anthem ahead of their game in London. The players took the step after the U.S. President on Sunday stepped up his criticism of National Football League players who protest during the pre-game national anthem, calling on fans to consider boycotting the NFL if teams do not discipline them. Trump warned players who refused to stand for the anthem in what began last year as a form of protest over excessive use of force by police against African-Americans. However, many players on both teams chose to ignore Trump's warnings and were joined by their team-mates linking arms in a sign of unity and solidarity. New England Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft criticised Trump and defended the players by saying they have the right to protest.
