Bhaktapur (Nepal), Dec 14 (ANI): Girls from Newar Community attended the Bel Bibah or Ihi ceremony in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Monday. Known as Ihi or 'Bel Bibaha' (Marriage with a wood apple) is the first of its kind where the girls from the Newar Community take part before entering the adolescent age. It is believed that a Newar woman is not considered a widow even if her husband passes away later in life since they would still be married to the gods Vishnu and Sun. This ritual has been in practice since hundreds of years. It is very sacred ritual and a real kanyaadaan as a virgin girl is handed over to the God.
