Nepal President Returns after Attending World Social Development Summit in Qatar

Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel returned to Kathmandu after attending the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar. Organized under a UN General Assembly resolution, the summit focused on poverty eradication, employment, and social inclusion. President Paudel, leading the Nepali delegation at the invitation of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development. On the sidelines, he met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, discussing Nepal’s climate challenges despite its low carbon footprint. Guterres praised Nepal’s contribution to UN peacekeeping and pledged continued support for climate adaptation. On his return, President Paudel was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by top government officials, including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
