Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 25 (ANI):In a show of dissent against the government for not doing enough to get the culprits of a rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant in a sugarcane farm in Nepal’s Kanchapur, activists and general public took to the streets of capital Kathmandu in a bid to express their rage against the rape. Chanting slogans and displaying placards, the demonstration led social activist groups marched from the Maitighar Mandala to the side of the parliament in Baneshwor. Ever since the reports of rape and murder of a 13-year-old appeared, the case shook one and all in the Himalayan nation, where 2 to 3 cases of rape are being registered on a daily basis. Accusing the government of not taking adequate measures to curb them, protests are being staged all across the country with the protestors demanding for the real culprits to be arrested. The protests that started on Friday evening after the child was killed after being raped in the afternoon, has so far witnessed one death and more than 20 people have been injured in the police action.
