Nepal observes 68th Democracy Day

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 19 (ANI): The 68th Democracy Day was observed across the nation through various programmes in Kathmandu on Monday. KP Sharma Oli, the first Prime Minister of Nepal after the adaptation of the federal governance, has appealed to all Nepali and foreign countries to help in making the new development goals a grand success. Addressing the nation on 68th Democracy Day of Nepal, Oli claimed the start of a new era of development and further stressed on proportional development while ruling out absolute development. To mark the day, a special program with military parade was carried out by the Nepal Army at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, newly appointed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, among high ranking officials were present in the programme. The Democracy Day is being observed to commemorate the establishment of democracy in the country with the abolition of the 104-year autocratic Rana rule. Likewise, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice released white pigeons, wishing for peace in the nation. The participants also observed one minute silence in memory of all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of country and the people.
