Kathmandu (Nepal), Dec 09 (ANI): Height of Nepal has increased along with Mount Everest, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Tuesday as he congratulated Nepali citizens after the announcement of revised height of the world’s tallest peak. The latest survey of Mount Everest has found the peak to have an increased height of 86 Centimetres, setting a new high point of 8848.86 meters. The new height was announced jointly by Nepal and China after completing survey, calculations, and data processing using various technologies. After the devastating 2015 earthquake, there were speculations by geologists that the height of the tallest mountain in the world might have changed due to possible shifts in the tectonic plates. This is the first time Nepal has measured the height of Mt Sagarmatha on its own. The Nepali team used Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), an advanced technology, to measure the height. During the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal last year, both the countries had decided to jointly reveal the height of the world’s tallest mountain.
