More than 18,000 enthusiasts file nomination for Nepal's final phase of local polls

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 07 (ANI): More than 18000 enthusiasts have filed nomination for their candidacy in the third and final rounds of the local polls in Nepal's province no. 2 of Nepal, according to the country's Election Commission. The Election Commission of Nepal acknowledged applications from 18,200 enthusiastic candidates by 6:30 p.m. local time last evening. The province no. 2, which is the mainland for the Madhesh based parties and the restive district, will go to polls on September 18. Earlier, the government under the leadership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, broke the election into three phases as the agitating parties threatened to boycott the polls. The agitating parties at that time have demanded for the swift amendment of the constitution to ensure their participation in the election. The final list of eligible candidates will be published by Thursday evening.
