New Delhi, Aug 20 (ANI): United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo is likely to visit Pakistan to hold talks with newly-elected Prime Minister Imran Khan. He is expected to visit Islamabad in the first week of September. Pompeo would be the first foreign dignitary to meet Imran Khan. Imran Khan on August 18 sworn-in as Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister in Islamabad. Pompeo congratulated Khan and said that the US is looking forward to work with Pakistan’s new government to promote peace and prosperity in the region. On Pakistan’s Independence Day, Pompeo, in a special message said that he wishes to improve and bolster bilateral relations between the two countries. In January, the relation between US and Pakistan plunged after President Trump accused Pakistan of giving nothing to Washington but “lies and deceit” and providing “safe haven” to terrorists.
