Muzaffarabad (PoK), Jan 11 (ANI): A large number of local residents and political activists in Muzaffarabad city carried out a massive protest against the construction of Neelum-Jhelum hydro power project in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The protest was organized by United Kashmir National Students Organisation, the student wing of the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP). They shouted slogans against the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to demand immediate ban on the construction of the power project on the rivers, which is the prime source of water in the region. Pakistan has deprived the locals even from the basic usage of water. In a statement, UKPNP said, “Our forests, minerals, rivers and other resources are being looted and plundered by Pakistan since 1947. It is responsibility of the world community to save our lives and resources under illegal control of Pakistan and its institutions”. Talking to ANI from Brussels Jamil Maqsood, who is Central Secretary Foreign Affairs of the United Kashmir People’s National Party, expressed his resentment calling Pakistan a worst neighbour. “That country has destroyed social, political and economical life of the people. The young men have been compelled to leave their territory in a very young age”, he said.
