Kathmandu (Nepal), July 23 (ANI): Hundreds of people on Sunday began a mass relay hunger strike to protest the government's crackdown on the supporters of a prominent doctor and activist who has been fasting for nearly a month, demanding reforms in the country's medical sector. Social activist and orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has gone on hunger strike 15 times over the past six years in an attempt to pressure the government to improve healthcare. The protesters at Kathmandu Durbar Square, who are supporting Dr Govinda, hit out against PM Oli's government. Nepal held three-tier elections last year and adopted the federal system of governance, with K P Sharma Oli appointed as the Prime Minister. The government is growing unpopular among the masses as its decisions and promises are not being addressed. The mass sit-in, which is organised by the activist groups, will be held till the government addresses their demands.
