Malaysian chef wins World No.1 Sushi chef title

Tokyo (Japan), Sep 13 (ANI): “Sushi” is one of the typical dishes of "Washoku" (traditional Japanese food) which is registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. “Sushi” was born in Japan about two hundred years ago, when there was no refrigerator or ice. It evolves with the culture where raw food is safely cooked, and it is inherited along with its traditional preparing methods. Sushi, which originated in Japan, has spread all over the world and is now so loved that in some countries it is now even included in some countries local food. Sushi contest “World Sushi Cup 2018” was held in Tokyo. Only "Sushi Chefs" from countries other than Japan can compete. Sushi chefs from Brazil, France, Malaysia, and Philippines etc. are competing in the final session. In the contest, each sushi chef decides their theme and should serve sushi within the time limit of 40 minutes. With a cue to start, sushi chefs start to make sushi. Judges evaluate carefully taste and shape of each sushi dish. To cook sushi, importance is not only showing goodness of appearance but also cutting and preparation of raw seafood is as important. Hygiene considerations are also very important part of screening process. At the competition, sushi dishes with variety of themes are lined up on the table. "Tai Koon Slaung" from Malaysia won the title. His creative sushi Malaysia - Truly Asia expresses rich nature of Malaysia where he was born and grew up. Charm and deliciousness of sushi cultivated with the rich climate of Japan are spreading to the world through the skill of foreign sushi chefs.
