Madhesis demand Birgunj to be given capital status

Birgunj (Nepal), Jan 05 (ANI): The people in Birgunj of Parsa district are protesting to demand that their town should be declared the state capital. The protest is aimed at exerting pressure on the government that is said to be making preparations to announce temporary provincial capitals. Birgunj locals have threatened to launch a strong protest if their demand is not fulfilled. However, people in other areas including Dipayal, Butwal, Rupandehi and Dhankuta have been protesting with similar demands.
