The leaders exchanged views on Indo-Pacific: Foreign Secy on Modi-Trump-Abe trilateral meet

Buenos Aires (Argentina), Dec 01 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during their first ever trilateral meet agreed that a free, open, inclusive and rules based order is essential for the peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale said, “PM Modi had a very good meeting with US President Trump and Japan PM Shinzo Abe. President Trump and Japan PM Shinzo Abe complimented PM Modi for the reforms and developmental works that he has done and the three leaders exchanged views on Indo-Pacific.” The Foreign Secretary added, “They all agreed that a free, open, inclusive and rules based order is essential for the region's peace and prosperity. The PM offered some ideas on how we should take forward the concept of Indo-Pacific and how the three countries can work together to promote this concept. The leaders also agreed on the central role of ASEAN and they also agreed to work on maritime and connectivity issues and to synergise efforts in this regard.”
