Kathmandu (Nepal), October 21 (ANI): Nepal celebrated Kukur Tihar, the festival that honors dogs for their loyalty and service. From pet to police dogs, they were adorned with garlands, flowers, and vermilion powder. At the Nepal Police Canine Division, service dogs were awarded medals for their roles in crime detection, search and rescue, and public safety. The celebration reflects the country’s deep respect for dogs, symbolizing the bond between humans and animals. The Rigveda also mentions Samara, the mother of dogs, who aided Indra in retrieving stolen cattle — a reminder of this timeless connection.
