Kathmandu (Nepal), September 08 (ANI): Nepal’s living Goddess Kumari, adorned in red regalia and a crown, led a spectacular procession through Kathmandu’s historic Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square during the vibrant IndraJatra festival. Alongside Ganesh and Bhairav, the deities rode majestic chariots, moving slowly through thousands of devotees eager for blessings and a glimpse of this rare sight. Celebrated annually for eight days in the Nepali month of Bhadra, IndraJatra marks the gods’ victory over demons and the release of Jayanta, Lord Indra’s son. The air buzzed with rhythmic drumbeats and festive fervor as devotees gathered at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, immersing in tradition and devotion. This grand celebration is also observed with enthusiasm in Nepal’s Kavre and Dolakha districts, keeping age-old customs alive.
