Kathmandu (Nepal), June 21 (ANI): Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and scores of yoga enthusiasts gathered at Indian Embassy in Kathmandu early morning to mark the International Day of Yoga. They performed a variety of different yoga 'asanas' and breathing exercises to promote the benefits of this age old practice. The participants were guided by the Yoga Guru from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Kathmandu. During the event, PM Deuba said that Nepal has endorsed the resolution presented forward by the Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the UN General Assembly in September 27, 2014, first floated the idea of the International Yoga Day. The draft resolution passed by India was supported by 177 nations. With universal recognition and growing popularity of yoga, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014.
