Indian Embassy in Nepal remembers Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th anniversary

Kathmandu, Birgunj (Nepal) , Oct 03 (ANI): The Indian Mission in Nepal on Tuesday commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with an LED Projection in front of the City Hall in Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu. The Projection which depicted life events of Mahatma Gandhi also showcased his philosophy of non-violence and inclusive society. The event was inaugurated by acting Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Nepal, Ishwar Pokhrel, in the presence of Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, and other eminent individuals. On the other side, Consulate General of India in Birgunj also celebrated the day by organizing a cultural programme in Hotel Vishuwa. Consulate General of India, B.C. Pradhan, also attended the event. On the occasion, 72 students were also awarded. 2nd of October regarded as Gandhi Jayanti by paying homage to Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was fondly called Bapu. Born in 1869, in Gujarat's Porbandar, Mahatma Gandhi had his early political training in South Africa while working among the local Indian community facing discrimination.
