Kathmandu (Nepal), August 15 (ANI): The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 79th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony and cultural performances, where Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava unfurled the national flag. During the ceremony, a broadcast of Indian President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation highlighted recent progress across various sectors and paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. Ambassador Naveen Srivastava also honored the widows and next of kin of deceased Gorkha soldiers from the Indian Armed Forces, distributing their dues worth crores along with a blanket to each family. The celebrations featured patriotic songs and dance performances by teachers and students from the Embassy’s Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu.
